Once you have learned the Aramaic Alphabet, the next step is to learn the Aramaic Vowels. The Aramaic Vowels presented in these lessons are specific to the Aramaic letters in the Aramaic Square Script. The vowels in other Aramaic scripts are different. An understanding of Aramaic vowels can be a huge help in learning Aramaic, and is essential for a better understanding of texts which use the Aramaic Square Script, such as Biblical Aramaic, the Aramaic Targums, the Talmud and Zohar, and some editions of the Aramaic Old Testament (Peshitta Tanakh) and the Aramaic New Testament (Peshitta).
