This series of lessons discusses the Aramaic Old Testament or Peshitta Tanakh. The Peshitta Tanakh is a very early translation of the Hebrew Bible made by Jews in Mesopotamia several centuries B.C.E., and adopted by the early Jewish converts to Christianity. Despite its critical importance as an early translation of the Massoretic Text and as an aid to understanding the Hebrew Bible, it is almost completely ignored by Bible students today. Its treasures lie untapped and unknown to most.

Aramaic manuscripts of the Aramaic Old Testament are amongst the oldest Biblical manuscripts in the world, and the oldest dated Biblical manuscript is Aramaic. Find out more about these Biblical treasures, and see pictures of some of them.
