Kop was originally pronounced with a k sound produced from the throat, almost like a q. (This sound is still present in Arabic.) In fact, the letter Kop is often transliterated as q in English, such as in the word Qumran. Now, however, Kop is often pronounced as k, as in the words Korah, Cain, or kill. With many Aramaic speakers today, there is little difference between the pronunciation of Kop and Kap with a dagesh.

Kop has the Gematria (numerical value) of 100.
